Therapeutic power
When used intentionally, gaming can be a powerful tool for mental and physical rehabilitation. Studies have shown its effectiveness in improving motor skills, cognitive function and problem-solving abilities. On a psychological level, it can reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression by providing a positive outlet for stress, a sense of control and a platform for social interaction. We’re building on the work of organizations already using gaming in clinical settings and bringing it to a wider audience.
The focus of DAV gaming and livestreaming is meeting veterans and those who support them where they are. In 2024, DAV began broadcasting on Twitch.
In gaming livestreams, viewers can interact and ask questions about veterans benefits or DAV programs and services. Or they can just hang out and learn about DAV.
Other DAV livestreams will broadcast veterans news, legislative updates and interviews with lawmakers, policymakers and other subject matter experts.
